The Best Tools for Producing Infographics
(Including Free Tools)

There are so many tools that you can use today, both free and paid, to create amazing and effective infographics. The best thing to do is give each tool a try to find out if it works well for you.

Each person has their own preferences about each tool and what makes sense cognitively to them. Therefore, giving platforms a try is a good idea. You might find one that you love and then you’ll be more likely to create amazing infographics

* –  This is at the top due to the user-friendly nature of Canva. Sign into your Canva account, click “create a design”, then scroll through them until you find “infographics”.

Choose to start with a blank image or choose one of the templates. You can also “explore templates” to find more from the Canva Marketplace. Change the information to suit your needs and you’re done.

* – This simple-to-use platform enables you to create infographics using their
templates, or by starting fresh with your own. What you can do with this without upgrading
to the pro version is limited, but the pro version isn’t very expensive.

There is a small learning curve to understand their set-up, but once you do you can create infographics in minutes.

* – Start with a free account to create an infographic. You can choose from
their library or start fresh. Choose a template with different color schemes and types of data.

Then simply edit them to add your own data and titles. You can even add video, interactive maps, and more.

* Piktochart – This platform is super-easy to use and very intuitive. But don’t be fooled by the ease of use; it can create very dynamic infographics that work across platforms fast and easily. They also have amazing tutorials to help you along the way.

The Pro account will pay off if you plan to create a lot of infographics and other types of graphics and images on a regular basis.

* Venngage – This cloud-based program can be used free if you’re a student, and then from $19 to $48 a month depending on how much you plan to use it and what you want to use it for (as each account is limited based on the type).

The only tricky part of this software is learning their terms and how to line things up properly; but once you learn it, you’ll be creating infographics (and other types of graphics) like a pro.

  • – This very flexible browser-based creator is easy to use and understand, even if you’re not a graphic designer. It starts out as free, but you will have to pay for premium
    images, layouts, and templates.

However, it’s more than worth the small price to be able to make infographics yourself.

* Adobe Illustrator – Today, with the advent of monthly membership via the creative cloud to use Adobe graphics products, there is no reason the average person can’t learn
to create infographics using this professional software by watching tutorials.

  • – This is free software that you can download and use to create any type of graphic, including infographics, if you’re talented in graphic design. Like most software today,
    there are tutorials available on YouTube put up by people who are using it, so you can learn more from them.

And you can’t beat completely free and not needing an internet connection while you create.

These are just a few of the tools available today. Do a quick “Google search” for software to create infographics, and you’ll come back with many pages of information to look through.

These happen to be our favorites. Some of them work for people whether they have graphic design abilities or not. If you understand your data and how you want to tell the story of that
data, you too can produce infographics easily.

Using Infographics to Get Subscribers from Your Website

Creating infographics are fabulous ways to get subscribers from your website. This is especially true if you get a lot of people to share your infographic and talk about it.

The best way to get the information to as many people as possible is to create something that can go viral, but which also links back to your website and includes a call to action right on the
infographic to do that.

* Announce a New Product or Service – An infographic is a great way to talk about any new product or service that you’ve created. You can make a storyboard about why you created the new product or service and then what problems the service solves, while also telling them what to do to get it.

  • Present Amazing Data – When you’ve collected a lot of great data that helps promote what you offer to your audience, putting it into infographic form will solidify your expertise status enough that you’ll be able to get more leads through that data share. It will make people curious enough
    to click through to your site and check out what else you offer.

* Lead Magnet – An infographic can be a lead magnet. You can gather industry data and create an amazing infographic regarding that data, then give it away to your audience to use as well.

Make it editable and brandable, and they’ll be sure to sign up for your email list to get it.

  • Showcase your Products or Services – A great way to showcase your products and/or services is to make an infographic showing the evolution of your products and/or services, in a way that describes the benefits of the solutions you offer in a creative way.

* To Tell Your Historical Story – This is a great use for an infographic, which can go right on the about page of your website. It’s a beautiful way to tell the history of your business, how you arrived where you are today, and how that benefits your audience.

  • To Make Anything Easy – If you want to show people how to do something in a simple way, make an infographic. Did you know that restaurants often have infographics for each of the dishes they make in the kitchen to help everyone remember what goes into the dish and how it should look?

You can do the same thing, which will make you well sought out because of your knowledge – thus increasing the leads you capture based on your infographics.

* Create an Actionable CTA – One tip to get more subscribers from infographics is to remember to include a call to action on the infographic. The branding you add, plus your call to action, is
going to make all the difference to whether people simply share it or whether they engage with you in some way.

* Sell a Product or Service – You can use an infographic to highlight one product or service, showing all the benefits of that one product or service to the viewer. Make it click through to
your shopping cart, and you’re in business.

  • Get Them to Sign Up for Your Newsletter – A good way to increase subscribers is to offer something of value in return for something of value from your audience. Ask them to sign up for your newsletter or email list to get more fabulous information, such as what’s in the infographic they’re currently looking at.

* Promote Your Brand – Any infographic can be used to promote your brand if you add branding to it such as a watermark for your social media, website link, and more. Everything, from the
colors to the tone of voice you use for the information you’re imparting, can make a huge difference.

If you want to get subscribers, the best way to do it is to be consistent in the creation of infographics and then also the promotion of the infographics.

If no one knows you created it and you don’t promote it as if it’s one of your best products, it won’t work as well for gathering leads.

Using Infographics for Your Content Marketing

One of the parts of content creation that are often forgotten is the marketing part. If you don’t market the content that you create, you won’t get as many views as you should – which means
you won’t get as many sales or conversions. Thankfully, you can use infographics for your content marketing.

* They Look Great – Well-made infographics look nice and catch the attention of your audience.

This means that your audience is more likely to read them, as well as click through to read the rest of your content. Visually they are simply more pleasing and get more attention.

* They Can Go Viral – If you play your cards right, there is potential for the infographic to go viral. They might not go as viral as the funny cat memes you see (depending on your topic), but within your audience community, you may get a good conversation started.

  • They Explain Your Content Better – Sometimes data-centric content is hard to understand in only text mode. But when it’s put into a story in infographic form, it brings the information to life so that your audience can understand it better.
  • They Build Brand Awareness – If you watermark your content correctly and brand it so that it’s noticeable as yours, you can build extreme brand awareness. One way to do that is to host the infographics on your own website and allow others to embed it on theirs.

* Search Engines Like Them – Google likes images and if you name your infographic properly with a keyword-rich file name, people who do searches for the information will find your infographic and your website. And if search engines like them, it means that you’re making a mistake not to use them.

  • You Can Build Your Expertise Quotient – When you can compile information that you’ve learned in an expert fashion, it will boost your expert status to your audience. You’ll look more professional, and people will start to know you as the person with the information in your industry.

* You’ll Get More Traffic – When you use infographics to spread information, you’ll get more traffic to your website – which will help you sell more products or get more clients for your
services. The reason is that it’s easier to explain concepts faster with images than with just text.

  • Get More Engagement from Your Audience – Infographics can induce discussion among your audience in a way that pure text won’t. The reason is that people learn things better when also presented visually with images over just text and numbers. You can create discussions, make people think, and more – all with visual graphics that explain difficult concepts.

you want them to know, the better. Visually appealing infographics can help get the word out better since they’re more likely to be shared.
